A " Fortune 500" appliance OEM was faced with a large scale problem. They needed a vendor to supply prototype case blanks for their new "Quantum Leap" line of refrigerators, FAST. They were looking for a company that could help with the development of blanks from a 3D PRO E model, as well as, quickly manufacture the 15-foot long by 34" blanks. They were able to use Rapid-Line’s Pro E design capability to develop a flat blank from their 3D-computer model. With the help of Pro E and Rapid-Line’s experienced engineering department, a flat blank over 14 feet long was designed. Rapid-Line was able to unfold and develop the Pro E model and engineer a fast, flexible solution for producing the blanks with no tooling. This allowed Rapid-Line to respond quickly to design changes and produce parts for several different design guidance and design confirmation builds. Rapid-Line was able to produce laser cut development blanks of key features literally within hours for confirmation of design changes, then turret punch full size parts in just a few days.
